A pregnant virgina shark was found in Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center located in Virginia Beach. The shark was carrying a pup which died later after the mother shark died due to complicated pregnancy. This is the second time a shark give birth to a pup without having sexual intercourse with a male shark. The first virgin birth of a shark happened in 2002 in Omaha, Nebraska. The scientific term for the virgin birth is parthenogenesis.
